Last night during Marvel’s self-promoting documentary, Marvel: 75 Years, From Pulp To Pop!, we were treated to an extended preview of the studio’s upcoming Agent Carter TV show that will help fill the programming gap on ABC when Agents of SHIELD goes off on its winter hiatus.
The over two-minute clip introduces Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell) and her side job boss, Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), both of whom are two of the S.H.I.E.L.D. founding members. It’s not likely that Stark will have a huge presence on the series as he works behind-the-scenes, but that’s OK since his butler, Jarvis, is on the job.
We already knew Jarvis, the man who will inspire Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) to name his A.I. butler after him, would debut in Agent Carter and be portrayed by James D’Arcy. This is our first official look at D’Arcy in the role and he looks to be a fantastic new addition to the Marvel live-action universe.
Those of you who find “talking” clips a bit of a bore might want to stick around to the end. Let’s just say Hayley Atwell gets a chance to flex her muscles.
Marvel’s Agent Carter takes place approximately two years after Steve Rodgers aka Captain America (Chris Evans) crashed the Hydra plane into the ice. The series is set to premiere on an unannounced date sometime in January, 2015.
Hayley Atwell as Agent Carter is expected to make an appearance in next summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, and she’s also rumored to pop up in the first Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 film, Ant-Man, a few months later. Go, Agent Carter, go!
