Last fall as Vince Gilligan and AMC’s Breaking Bad was wrapping up its final season, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the lavish and oh-so-appropriate Breaking Bad Complete Series Blu-ray barrel set to the retail equivalent of a standing ovation. It quickly sold out to never be available other than the secondary market again in the neighborhood of $400, or so we thought.
Breaking Bad and its stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn attended the Emmy’s as a team for the final time this past Sunday and walked away with all the big awards they were up for including Best Drama, Best Actor in a Drama, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama. The opportunity was ripe for Sony to take advantage of the renewed interest in Breaking Bad and that’s precisely what they have done.
The Breaking Bad Complete Series Blu-ray deluxe barrel edition set will be returning on October 28, 2014 to offer those who missed out a second chance at picking up this fantastic Blu-ray collection. Everything included the first time around is inclusive again, consisting all the episodes, a Los Pollos Hermanos apron, commemorative challenge coin designed by Vince Gilligan, over 55 hours of bonus features, and the barrel packaging to tie it all together.
What sets this 2014 version apart from last year’s is the inclusion of a Better Call Saul 4GB flash drive that will include a sneak peek at the upcoming Breaking Bad prequel spin-off.
Amazon.com already has the Breaking Bad Complete Series Blu-ray barrel available to pre-order for $209.99 or 30 percent less than the $299.99 list price. If history repeats itself then this set, like its predecessor, will be completely sold out by no later than Black Friday weekend.
