AMC has released a new promotional poster for the upcoming midseason premiere of The Walking Dead: Season 4.5. For the first time that I can recall, Rick Grimes is not the featured character on the poster’s key art.
Rick is, of course, present on the poster. Rather than the spotlight shining on him, his son Carl is front and center on a train track while dad is seen in the background at a smaller size. The teaser trailer for Season 4.5 has shown us that Rick will be struggling with the injury he suffered at the hands of The Governor and his crew during the midseason finale, and Carl will have to step up and get his dad through tough times without the safety of the prison’s walls or support from Hershel or the others.
When The Walking Dead: Season 4.5 picks up, the prison group will be completely splintered for the first time. Daryl, Rick, Michonne, Tyreese, Glenn and Maggie have all gone separate ways in the chaotic fall of the prison, and the back-half of Season 4 will follow their individual stories and, presumably, reunite them at some point.
The Walking Dead: Season 4.5 premieres the first Sunday after the Super Bowl on February 9 at 9/8c on AMC.
