Last night on Showtime’s Homeland, the series threw a major curveball to close the first third of Season 3 and set the table for the remaining eight episodes. Spoilers will be presented from this point forward so proceed at your own risk.
In the closing moments of last night’s Homeland episode ‘Game On,’ Carrie (Claire Danes)used her 24 hours of freedom to confront Saul (Mandy Patinkin) about throwing her under the bus in the public eye. Or so we thought. Instead, Carrie was passing an update to Saul as the two have been in cahoots since the Langley bombing. The first four episodes have been a ruse and only Saul and Carrie knew the truth. We – the audience – were as much in the dark about this scheme as everyone who knew Brody was about his turning against America.
In a clip for the upcoming episode ‘The Yoga Play,’ Saul meets up with an old frenemy, Senator Lockhart (Tracy Letts). The good Senator is impressed with Saul’s work to seek out the mastermind behind the Langley attack. Something tells me Saul and the Senator aren’t about to become best pals.
The clip also introduces William Sadler as someone who works within the White House. Sadler is too big a name to simply cameo so I would look for more of him in the coming episodes.
