The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector’s Edition was announced almost a week ago, and for some reason it has taken online retailer Amazon.com that long to get the upcoming mega box set including all three Christopher Nolan Batman films and other goodies up for pre-order. Now that it is available, the impressive box set is already climbing Amazon’s bestsellers chart.
To recap what this box set is all about, The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector’s Edition includes Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray, with the latter two films each including a separate disc exclusively for bonus features. The Batman Begins bonus features are on the same disc as the feature film. These are all the same bonus features available on the previously released Trilogy Blu-ray set.
New to this box set is ‘The Fire Rises’ making-of documentary with new behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with numerous non-affiliates Hollywood actors and directors, ‘Christopher Nolan & Richard Donner: A Conversation’ which marks the first time Nolan has talked about his Batman films on any of the home video releases, and all the IMAX sequences in their original IMAX aspect ratio.
Physical extras include premium Hot Wheels vehicles of the Tumbler, Bat-Pod and The Bat; newly commissioned art cards featuring Ra’s al Ghul, Harvey Dent, Scarecrow, Joker and Bane; and a 48-page hardcover book with film stills and behind-the-scenes images.
Amazon is pre-selling The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray for $99.98 and already the set has climbed to the 43rd spot on Amazon’s Blu-ray bestsellers chart. It will likely climb higher once word spreads that the set is available for pre-order. The release date is September 24.
