AMC’s The Walking Dead: Season 3 is on the verge of its midseason finale and a raid on the Governor’s Woodbury compound. One of those set to infiltrate the compound is Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), one-half of the Dixon brothers and one of the most popular characters on the show since his transformation that began in Season 2.
Next year you will get to step into the shoes of Daryl in The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, a new first-person shooter game from Terminal Reality that serves as a prequel to the television series. Accompanying Daryl will be his brother, Merle, as they make their way through the Georgia countryside in search of the presumed safety of Atlanta.
You can’t have Daryl and Merle in a game without the actors behind the characters providing the voices. Today publisher Activision announced that Reedus, along with Michael Rooker, are signed up to voice Daryl and Merle, respectively, in The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. How far Terminal Reality will take the bigoted Merle’s dialogue remains to be seen. It should be a blast to hear the brothers bickering and covering each other’s asses as they battle through zombie and human enemies alike. We may even see how the brothers meet up with Shane, Lori, Dale and the group. At least I hope we do.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is set for a 2013 release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC. A Wii U version does not look likely at this time.
