What was to be one of Disney and Pixar’s first Blu-ray releases roughly six years ago has become one of Pixar’s last. At long last, tonight it has been confirmed that Finding Nemo will make its Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D debut on December 4, 2012.
The Finding Nemo Blu-ray announcement came tonight via Twitter from a man who would know, none other than Finding Nemo co-director Lee Unkrich. His exact tweet with the release date can be seen below along with a little special treat to get you even more excited for the release.
The most recent reason for the delayed released of Finding Nemo on Blu-ray was Disney’s decision to retrofit some of its biggest animated films with 3D for a theatrical re-release. In the case of Finding Nemo, that re-release is scheduled for September 14, 2012.
It’s too early to know what bonus features will appear on the Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D releases of Finding Nemo. To be clear, there will be separate Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D packages available.
