Tom Cruise is close to knowing who his leading lady will be in Doug Liman’s upcoming Sci-Fi thriller All You Need is Kill.
According to Variety, actress Emily Blunt has entered into negotiations for the role of a female soldier, Valkyrie One, who fights alongside Cruise’s character against aliens in the film. The premise is that Cruise’s character is killed in action, then returns upon death to relive that final day over and over in a time travel look ala Groundhog Day.
The film is based on a Japanese graphic novel of the same name and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Production is expected to get underway later this year.
If Blunt closes a deal, this will be a quick return to both the Sci-Fi genre and time travel. Later this year she will co-star alongside Bruce Willis and Joseph-Gordon Levitt in Looper.
Emily Blunt will next be seen in the comedy The Five-Year Engagement beginning April 27. Tom Cruise will next appear in Rock of Ages on June 15.
