The first trailer for Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 debuted last Thursday at midnight, attached to every print of The Hunger Games. Since that film racked up over $150 million in business in its first three days of release, the Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer was quickly seen by the majority of the fans it was intended for.
By Friday morning, a bootlegged version of the Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner had hit the Internet. And then another. And another.
Rather than chase bootlegs around with cease and desist orders, Lionsgate and Summit released the official version of the Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer early Monday for all to see.
Considering Breaking Dawn Part 2 is not due for release until November 16, over a half year from now, it isn’t surprising that the first trailer falls into the teaser category. It runs under a minute in length, focusing mostly on Bella embracing her new vampire way of life. That’s bad news for wildlife.
I wouldn’t expect another Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer until this summer, perhaps around the time The Hunger Games is ready for its Blu-ray and DVD release. Between now and then, there still remains the potential for an image or two to be released.
