The Princess Diaries and its sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, are expected to arrive on Blu-ray in a combined package release sometime this year.
2012 marks the 10th anniversary of the original The Princess Diaries which makes it a logical year to finally release the film on Blu-ray. In addition, star Anne Hathaway, who made these films before she engaged in more “mature” subject matter, is featured in this summer’s The Dark Knight Rises which will vault her presence in the media through the roof.
I don’t have a release date for The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement on Blu-ray. If I were a guessing man, and today I will be, I’d say Disney will release the single package with both films in either June or early July to take advantage of The Dark Knight Rises publicity.
Nothing is set in stone until Disney officially announces The Princess Diaries on Blu-ray. I’ll be sure to pass along any updates as they come along.
