Original article (August 23, 2011): Curiosity of what went wrong should help fuel rentals and sales of Warner Bros. The Green Lantern on Blu-ray 3D, DVD and Blu-ray combo pack (SRP $40.99) and Blu-ray and DVD combo pack (SRP $35.99) when it arrives in stores on October 14.
Count me in as one of the many who missed (deliberately) The Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds as the DC Comics superhero in theaters, but will be checking it out on home video. I wasn’t able to attend the screening, then kept myself at arm’s length from the movie after the landslide of negative reviews began to hit. When all was said and done at the box office, Green Lantern failed to reach its $200 million production with $194 million in worldwide ticket sales.
The Blu-ray 2D version of Green Lantern will include a new extended cut that runs at 120 minutes, in addition to the theatrical cut at 114 minutes. Warner has offered no hint as to what those extra minutes will include.
Both the Blu-ray 2D and 3D versions will also include a Playstation 3 Sinestro Corp Batman skin for Batman: Arkham City that will allow Batman to wear a yellow suit and fight crime with the power of fear in single and multiplayer modes. Consider this suit a PS3 exclusive.
Here’s a complete list of bonus features shared by the Blu-ray 3D and 2D skus. BD-Live access will only work from the Blu-ray 2D discs, which is included in the Blu-ray 3D package.
