Online retailer Amazon.com has declared today “Criterion Collection Day of Lightning Deals” where numerous Criterion titles on Blu-ray and DVD will see their prices slashed during a limited buying window.
For example, at the time I’m writing this, Videodrome on Blu-ray is selling for $19.99 or 50% off the $39.99 list price. That’s a pretty cheap price for a Criterion Blu-ray title, and I assure you there’s nothing cheap about what you get.
Later today will see two more Criterion Blu-ray and DVD titles go up for sale in a lightning deal. First up will be The Darjeeling Limited priced somewhere between $10 and $20, followed by The Rolling Stones: Gimme Shelter in the same price range. The exact prices won’t be posted until the lightning deals begin.
