Valve’s Portal 2 for PS3 and Xbox 360 now occupies the top two video games bestsellers spots at Amazon.com, respectively, bumping down the popular Pokemon black and white DS games to get there.
The reason for Portal 2’s pre-sale success at Amazon.com is threefold. Portal 2 is a highly anticipated sequel that has seen its fair share of delays and now it’s a mere 10 days from release. Anyone who wants it is making sure to lock in their pre-order.
Amazon has cut the pre-sale price for Portal 2 on Xbox 360 and PS3 from $59.99 to $54.99, a nice little $5 price break for a game that isn’t even out yet. Most new release titles see no price cut or a minimal $1 to $2 savings.
The third and most alluring reason Portal 2 is selling strong at Amazon.com is the retailer is offering a $20 credit when you pre-order the game good toward any future non-digital download item purchase on their site. You could put the $20 credit toward a another game, a stuffed animal or a new TV. Doesn’t matter.
