It’s time for another Blu-ray rumor report and this latest edition has some flicks you’ll want to put on your radar.
First up is another Universal HD DVD holdover, Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners starring Michael J. Fox. It looks to be on track for a Blu-ray debut alongside the Alien Anthology and Back to the Future Trilogy on October 26.
Next is Sony’s Salt starring Angelina Jolie which we’re hearing should hit stores on November 2. I missed this theatrically and can’t wait to give it a spin at home. An official announcement is expected (though not guaranteed) within the next 1-3 weeks.
A week later Universal is expected to crank up the volume and top the weekly sales charts with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World starring Michael Cera on November 9. This date has been floating around awhile and all indications point towards it being legit.
This next one has no pinpointed release date yet but in this case I don’t think you’ll mind. There’s a good chance that arguably the most sought after Pixar film on Blu-ray, Brad Bird’s The Incredibles, will finally hit stores in spring 2011 as a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack release. Below is a look at an early Disney mockup for what you could potentially be handling in roughly 6 months time.
Fox is typically slow on the announcement side but there’s a handful of big ones we expect to see November or December release dates for soon. They include The A-Team movie with Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper, Knight and Day with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, and Avatar: Extended Collector’s Edition that will feature 3 versions of the film and 818 total minutes of content. That’s a lot of Na’vi.
Remember, all these dates are to be considered rumor only until confirmed by each title’s respective studio.
