Jeremy Renner to Co-Star in Mission Impossible 4

Paramount Pictures has ended their exhaustive search for the man that will co-star alongside Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 4.

According to Deadline, a deal has been reached with Jeremy Renner that will see him play a new operative on Cruise’s team. Should the franchise continue into a fifth and sixth installment as Paramount hopes, Renner could transition into the leading role while Cruise’s Ethan Hunt is phased out.

Renner’s fortunate has been amazing since starring in The Hurt Locker. In addition to this new Mi4 gig, just last month he landed the role of superhero Hawkeye in Paramount and Marvel’s The Avengers film. Production on that huge ensemble kicks off early next year.

Mission Impossible 4 director Brad Bird will begin shooting his film this fall with producing duties falling onto Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams. Look for it in theaters on December 16, 2011.
