A former HD DVD exclusive and a high definition newcomer were announced today as coming to Blu-ray Disc later this summer.
Paramount’s Stardust starring Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, Sienna Miller and Michelle Pfeiffer is the format jumper. The sci-fi romantic adventure directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) will be presented in 2.35:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, the latter an upgrade over HD DVD. Also an upgrade are numerous all-new bonus features exclusive to this release.

Lionsgate meanwhile announced the psychological thriller Jacob’s Ladder starring Tim Robbins will make its high definition debut on September 14. The film will be presented in 1080p video, while bonus features will include an audio commentary with director Adrian Lyne, deleted scenes, a “making-of” featurette and the theatrical trailer.
Retail price for Jacob’s Ladder is set at $19.99 which should bring on-shelf pricing in around $13. Look for that pre-order link and cover art in the near future.
