Filmmaker, fat bastard and all around good guy Kevin Smith recently tweeted about the home video debut for his latest theatrical released, Cop Out.
“I’ve seen it,” Smith replied when asked about Cop Out on Blu-ray via Twitter. “WB’s giving it MaximumMovieMode treatment (like WATCHMEN or 300). It’s LOADED.”
Maximum Movie Mode will let Smith interject during the film in a split-screen fashion to offer his insights (or additional humor and insults as the case might be). The feature has been used exclusively on big budget effects films to-date, but on paper its a good fit for Smith to flex his potty mouth muscle and up the entertainment value. Unless, of course, he is on his best behavior at Warner’s request.
Cop Out stars Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan and also features scant appearance by Seann William Scott who steals every scene he’s in. The forthcoming Blu-ray and DVD have yet to be announced, but I’ll be sure to share the date and full details once they are in hand.
