A reader over at the HighDefDigest.com forums recently received a retailer advertisement promoting a Christmas 2010 release for The Alien Anthology (aka Quadrilogy) on Blu-ray Disc.
This set that will include Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection is thought to have been in development dating back to 2008. I was expecting Fox to release it last Christmas as their annual “big” holiday Blu-ray set to time with the 30th anniversary of Alien, but the studio instead chose Mel Brooks which sent the Alien set back into limbo.
The only Anthology details offered by the advertisement is the obvious: 1080p picture, up to 7.1 surround sound and BD-Live features.
Fox is expected to release Robert Rodriguez’s Predators on Blu-ray this fall which will probably be used to advertise the Alien Anthology set. We’ll pass along more details as they surface.
