Sony Returns to TV on Blu-ray with AMC’s Breaking Bad

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has returned to TV on Blu-ray after a year plus hiatus by announcing the first and second season of AMC’s Breaking Bad starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn are due for release on March 16.

Prior to Breaking Bad, Sony had dabbled in high-def television shows with a single season release of Rescue Me and Damages. The studio pulled the plug after assumed less than satisfactory sales numbers despite rumors of a massive Seinfeld on Blu-ray set in the works.

Both seasons of Breaking Bad will be presented in 1.78:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The first season will span two discs while the second, with more episodes, will span 3 and cost an additional $10.
