Earlier this year, HBO released the stellar True Blood: Season One and John Adams: The Complete Series Blu-ray Disc sets. Shortly thereafter, they teased us by allowing Amazon.com to take pre-orders for Rome: The Complete Series on Blu-ray but offered no concrete release date or disc details.
This morning, HBO ended the tease and formally announced Rome: The Complete Series is coming to Blu-ray Disc and DVD on November 17, just in time to enjoy over the Thanksgiving break.
On Blu-ray, both seasons of Rome will be presented in 1.78:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, a typical configuration for HBO box sets. There will be 10 BD-50 discs in total.
Interactive historical guides are exclusive to Blu-ray while at least one audio commentary, a featurette and photo gallery will be shared between versions. More specific explanations of the supplements are expected shortly.
Four hundred years after the founding of the Republic, Rome is the wealthiest city in the world, a cosmopolitan metropolis of one million people, epicenter of a sprawling empire. But now, the city’s foundations are crumbling, eaten away by corruption and excess…And two soldiers unwittingly become entwined in historical events, their fates inexorably tied to the fate of Rome itself.
HBO has set a $139.99 SRP for Rome: The Complete Series, but you can pre-order the set right now for $97.99 at Amazon.com by clicking here.
