MGM is the latest passenger to board the Terminator train with confirmation the original Terminator film will be reissued on Blu-ray Disc May 12 to time with the theatrical release of Terminator Salvation.
Terminator made its first Blu-ray appearance almost three years ago with a transfer that did not help the format’s early cause. Rumors have been swirling of a new Lowry restored print but this release does not appear to include it.
In fact, the only confirmed new addition to this release is a slick new lenticular slipcover which you can see below. With an SRP set at a low $24.99 it is a safe bet this is the identical bare bones release with shoddy transfer we saw three years ago.
Amazon pricing should become available this week and will likely be in the $18 range.
