South Pacific is currently enjoying a Tony Award-winning revival on Broadway while the 1958 film, based on a Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
With so much attention on South Pacific it should come as no surprise that Fox Home Entertainment will release the original film March 31 on Blu-ray Disc in a lavish two-disc 50th anniversary set.
South Pacific on Blu-ray will be presented in its original 2.20:1 aspect ratio at 1080p resolution with a newly remastered 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack as well as a stereo option for a more vintage feel.
Extensive bonus features have been cobbled together for this release including a Blu-ray exclusive documentary and multiple features in high definition.
