Smallville has been a perennial hit for the CW Network as its 8th, and possibly final season, rolls on. Smallville’s eventual departure, whether this season or next, will leave a huge demographic hole in the CW’s slate.
This might be why the CW has announced a pilot has been greenlit for The Graysons, a new potential series following the life of young Dick “DJ” Grayson who later in life becomes Batman’s sidekick, Robin.
The minds behind the project are Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, executive producers of none other than Smallville, and McG, executive producer of Supernatural and the man behind the lens of the upcoming Terminator Salvation film.
Souders and Peterson have come up with a new take on Dick and his family, though whether that includes “The Flying Graysons” or not remains to be seen.
The pilot is expected to air next fall as either a replacement for Smallville or next to Smallville to feed off Clark Kent’s superhero craving audience.
