‘Vertical Limit’ Ascends to Blu-ray; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon?

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the Chris O’Donnell mountain thriller ‘Vertical Limit’ will be released February 20 on Blu-ray Disc for an SRP of $28.95.

The ‘Vertical Limit’ high definition presentation will consist of a widescreen 1.85:1 1080p transfer and PCM 5.1 audio. No extras have been revealed thus far, though it’s safe to assume at least some of those found on the special edition DVD will port over to Blu-ray, if not all.

In other Sony news, it appears ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ may have slipped off their Blu-ray radar for the time being. The martial arts favorite was initially being readied for an early 2007 appearance in high-def until it lost a release date, and now it has dropped off Sony’s press website entirely. Titles have mysteriously vanished from this site for a couple days only to return unscathed, but we’ve been watching this one for well over a week with no change.

With CES just around the corner, Studios may be holding back titles like ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ for a grand Vegas announcement. Stay tuned for more high-def disc news as the big show approaches.
