The first wave of Playmates’ Star Trek: Prodigy action figures have been revealed with a promise of more to come. And, yes, everyone’s favorite gelatinous explorer Murf will be available right off the bat.
The Star Trek: Prodigy action figures are designed in the 5″ scale with 14-points of articulation. That means they will fit right in with the new Playmates Star Trek figures from multiple generations coming out later this year. Who would win a fight between Khan and Murf with Michael Burnham officiating? You’ll be able to play out that adventure and many others.
Wave 1 of the Star Trek: Prodigy line consists of Dal R’El figure with Murf, Gwyndala, Jankom Pog, Hologram Janeway (not pictured), Zero, and Rok-Tahk (not pictured — coming in early 2023).
Playmates is also promising “ships, vehicles and role play toys” to arrive in late 2023. I’m personally holding out hope for a Prodigy bridge scaled to these new 5″ figures. There are also loud cries for a Murf plushie.
Look for this first wave of Star Trek: Prodigy Playmates action figures to appear at various online retailers sometime in October. We’ll pass along the pre-order links when they are live. A traditional retail release is currently slated for Spring 2023.
