Paramount’s live-action Dora and the Lost City of Gold swung into theaters this past weekend with a somewhat muted $17 million weekend box office debut.
The film, based on the hugely popular Nickelodeon cartoon series, was produced for just under an estimated $50 million so there’s still quite a bit of ground to make up. It was a tough sell timing-wise with kids in much of the country already back in school, and those not in school busy with back-to-school prep.
Even so, the family film starring Isabela Moner, Eva Longoria, Michael Peña, Eugenio Derbez, and Jeffrey Wahlberg delivers a decently fun time (read our review).
Online retailer Amazon.com has already begun taking pre-orders for Dora and the Lost City of Gold on Blu-ray, DVD, and Amazon Prime video in 4K Ultra HD. A physical 4K Ultra HD format pre-order has not yet appeared.
