Illumination’s summer sequel The Secret Life of Pets 2 has officially been unleashed in theaters. Early tracking suggests it won’t approach the $100+ million debut of the original back in 2016. It should topple Dark Phoenix and win the weekend.
Amazon and Universal Studios Home Entertainment are already accepting pre-orders for The Secret Life of Pets 2 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. If moviegoers like the sequel then some pre-orders will probably be placed.
The temporary cover art on Amazon reveals that two all-new mini-movies will be included on the home video release. That’s typical for Illumination films.
Using the general three-month rule out best guess for when The Secret Life of Pets 2 will arrive in stores is mid-to-late September. It could end up in October depending on how Universal positions it against other studios and their own other releases.
