Marvel has released a new Ant-Man and The Wasp featurette designed to introduce moviegoers to The Wasp through the character’s history in the comics.
In the featurette, Marvel chief Kevin Feige talks about the importance of bringing The Wasp into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She was the last remaining character depicted on the cover of The Avengers Issue #1 not to appear on the big-screen, so that task is finally complete.
Feige also references Avengers 4 and teases that Ant-Man and The Wasp will have direct connections to Avengers 4. It has been assumed that Ant-Man and The Wasp takes place before Avengers: Infinity War, but it might lead up to and overlap with the devastating events of that film’s final act.
The featurette also offers more footage of the Quantum Realm than we’ve seen before. Scott Lang thought he saw Janet van Dyne, Hank Pym’s wife, in the Quantum Realm so it’s all hands on deck to save her.
Popular theory suggests the Quantum Realm will be the first key to defeating Thanos and saving those he offed with the snap of his fingers. It could potentially be used in conjunction with Hank Pym’s research to travel through time and collect the Infinity Stones before Thanos can.
Ant-Man and The Wasp arrives in theaters on July 6th.
