The next DC Universe animated feature-length movie is The Death of Superman, and it’s coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray as well as Blu-ray, a Blu-ray deluxe box set with a collectible Superman figurine, and DVD on August 7th.
The Death of Superman is only the first chapter in a two-part story. Sometime in the first half of 2019 will come the second part, The Reign of Supermen. A preview for that movie will be included on all versions of The Death of Superman.
Non-comic book readers will associate The Death of Superman with what happened in the recent DC Films movies. In fact, The Death of Superman dates back to a comic book run of the same name from 1992-93. The first DC Universe animated movie, Superman Doomsday, told one part of that story.
With The Death of Superman and The Reign of Supermen, the entire story will now be told in animation for the first time.
The voice cast for The Death of Superman includes Jerry O’Connell (Superman), Rebecca Romijn (Lois Lane), Rainn Wilson (Lex Luthor), Jason O’Mara (Batman), Rosario Dawson (Wonder Woman), Shemar Moore (Cyborg), Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern/Hal Jordan), and Christopher Gorham (The Flash).
