There’s some big new Disney Infinity 3.0 news that should surprise exactly no one who has been following the game closely over the past couple years. The news involves a Pixar’s Finding Dory tie-in, and it comes from the most unlikeliest of sources.
Twitter user Ty Dash picked up a box of Kraft Mac & Cheese at the grocery store and noticed an interesting promotion on the back of the box. He shared the image on Twitter and it became quickly obvious that he had found the first visual proof and confirmation that the next Disney Infinity Play Set will revolve around this June’s big new Disney and Pixar release, Finding Dory.
The promotion includes an image of a Dory Disney Infinity figure and textual proof stating she will work with the Finding Dory Play Set. I would expect other characters like Marlin, Nemo and Squirt to be made into figures for what will be the first underwater-driven Disney Infinity Play Set.
Disney Interactive’s John Vignocchi first hinted at Finding Dory making its way into Disney Infinity two years ago by hinting at underwater gameplay. At the time we all thought this would be Disney Infinity 4.0, but now Disney Interactive is pushing back a new versions by at least a year to roll out quarterly new Play Sets for Disney Infinity 3.0.
The anticipated release for the Disney Infinity 3.0 Finding Dory Play Set and figures is this June, making it the second Disney Infinity 3.0 2016 Play Set release after this month’s Marvel Battlegrounds. A good guess for the third Play Set in September is Alice in Wonderland, while Rogue One: A Star Wars Story should round out the 2016 Play Sets in December.
