The Wisconsin Badgers and their potent offense will take on one of NCAA’s best defensive centers at American University today in a round 1 March Madness basketball game on Thursday.
Wisconsin, the two seed, comes in a heavy favorite thanks almost entirely to their offensive that features five starters all capable of putting up big numbers. They are efficient with their attack, but some consider their defense a step behind and that’s what opponents will have to take advantage of.
American University is the underdog and that’s not an unfamiliar position for a team that was picked to finish ninth in the Patriot League before the season began. Keep in mind that league has only 10 total teams.
Unfortunately for the Eagles of American U., they are playing today’s game only a 90-minute drive from Madison, Wisconsin where the Badgers call home. Though the location is considered neutral, it might as well be a road game for the Eagles as the stands will be full of Wisconsin fans.
American U. coach Zach Bohannon knows that a number two seed can upset the number 15 seed. He was on the Georgetown staff when they were upset as the number two seed by Florida Gulf Coast, so you can bet that story is being told over and over again in the Eagles locker room.
