The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are fulfilling their prophecies of being favorites to emerge from the NFC and battle in the NFC Championship football game this evening. Little has gone right for the 49ers in Seattle including seven turnovers against, an inability to move the ball against the Seahawks top-ranked defense, and an even greater inability to slow down quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Marshawn Lynch.
Though the Seahawks are favored to win today, Kaepernick is 4-1 during the postseason in his young NFL career and he will have his full compliment of wide receivers at his disposal today including Anquan Boldin and tight end Vernon Davis, the latter of whom has been hurt most of the year and caught a touchdown against Carolina last week.
While much of the press surrounding today’s game will be the match up between Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick, the running back battle between Lynch and Frank Gore is equally as important, if not more important. Seattle has managed to keep Gore’s average yards per game under 50 at CenturyLink Field, but this is the NFL Playoffs and Gore will be playing with a chip on his shoulder.
The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks will kick-off their 2014 NFC Championship football game at a start time of 6:30pm EST / 3:30pm PST.
