Week two of the 2013 NFL preseason football games schedule gets underway with the Dallas Cowboys squaring off against the Arizona Cardinals at the early afternoon start time of 1:30/12:30c. The Cardinals shocked the Packers in a shutout win on the road in week one with a rookie playing an unexpected major role. The Cowboys are 1-1 after playing in the Hall of Fame Game and look to improve to a positive record against the red birds. Free live online streaming instructions for this afternoon’s football game on NFL Network are at the bottom of this post.
Tony Romo sat out the Hall of Fame Game and got his first preseason action last week against the Raiders in a tight loss. He played two possessions and was able to march the ball down the field both times. Unfortunately a batted pass led to a field goal the first time and red zone inefficiency struck again for another field goal on the second drive.
Special teams are proving to be a major problem for the Cowboys thus far and for all practical purposes cost them the last game due to a block field goal, giving up a huge punt return, and then fumbling a late punt to give up the go-ahead score. They will be under the microscope against the Cardinals.
No one expected Arizona with its old quarterback and new coaching staff to beat the Packers on the road, much less shut them out. That’s what happened as Carson Palmer led his team to victory and started early mumblings of a potential sleeper hit with this Arizona squad that no one seems to be taking seriously – yet.
Another big story to come out of that Green Bay game was the play of rookie defensive back Tyrann Mathieu. He scored a 12-yard sack, forced an important incompletion, and returned a punt for 24 yards, amongst other things. He’s been a beast in training camp and so far that skill has carried into game situations. The cornerback pairing of Mathieu and Patrick Peterson could be the best in the league for years to come.
This afternoon’s unusually early NFL week two preseason football game between the visiting Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals is televised on the NFL Network in high definition (HD). The NFL Network offers current subscribers to select cable, satellite or streaming services the opportunity to access a free live online streaming version of today’s football game that can be watched here on any Internet device such as a smart phone, iPad, laptop or video game console. My prediction is the Cardinals finally give up points but still hand the Cowboys their second loss 23-16 in a close game.
