The Seattle Seahawks are back on the primetime NFL schedule tonight in back-to-back weeks, arriving on ESPN Monday Night Football to square off against the St. Louis Rams in the week 8 finale and more than likely boost their record to an NFC-best 7-1. With the Rams without their starting quarterback on MNF, look for the Seahawks to cruise to an easy win tonight as we watch Monday Night Football online free live streaming on ESPN Seattle Seahawks vs St. Louis Rams by following the links below.
Last Thursday night, the Seahawks played another division rival, the Arizona Cardinals, and easily trounced them on the road 34-22. For the Seahawks the win was more than just taking down a division opponent who, and the time, had a winning record. They won their third road game of the year to match last season’s total and have a chance to make it four tonight for their best road performance in nearly a decade.
Even with the 49ers starting to come into form, Seattle remains the favorite to come out of the NFC and reach the Super Bowl. Their defense has played as advertised and ranks second in the NFL by allowing an average of 282.1 combined yards per game. Some quarterbacks are averaging more passing yards than that. They are also giving up only 16.6 points per game, among the league leaders, and have been especially tough to score against at home.
You still have to put points on the board to win games and the Seahawks are doing that and then some. They currently rank fourth in the league in scoring at 27.3 points per game. Some simple math shows that their point differential in games on average is north of ten. When it comes to moving the ball, they have the key stars in place to get the job done.
Russell Wilson continues to establish himself as an elite NFL quarterback in his sophomore campaign. Through seven games he has posted a 97.2 passer rating that ranks him seventh in the league. Over his past five games he has thrown five touchdown passes to only one interception. He has also rushed for 323 yards on the year.
Giving Wilson strong support out of the back field is running back Marshawn Lynch. He ranks second in the league behind only Philly’s LeSean McCoy with 578 rushing yards. Lynch has been a target through the air with 177 yards receiving and he’s put the ball in the end zone six times already this season. Look for a big game from Lynch tonight as we watch ESPN Monday Night Football online free streaming.
The Rams season effectively went into the toilet when starting quarterback Sam Bradford was lost for the season. They weren’t playing particularly well before Bradford went down, and now all hope rests on the shoulders of a backup quarterback with limited starts in the NFL. On the bright side, Kellen Clemens is familiar with the Rams offense having played behind Bradford for two seasons. Tonight marks his 13th NFL start and he posted a 52.7 completion percentage with 546 yards passing, two touchdown passes and an interception while briefly replacing an injured Bradford in 2011.
To give Clemens some support, the Rams signed Brady Quinn shortly after he was cut by the New York Jets. Quinn will be the backup, while freshly resigned Austin Davis gets a second shot on the team after being cut during the preseason. He will be the third string Rams quarterback tonight.
