The Florida State Seminoles and Auburn Tigers are set as representatives of the final Vizio 2014 BCS National Championship game teams at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. FSU will put their perfect record on the line one last time this season against a tough AU squad.
The controversial BCS Bowl system officially comes to a close tonight as undefeated Florida State puts its perfect record on the line ahead of next year’s shift to the College Football Playoff format. The irony of tonight’s BCS Championship game is that for all the grumbling about how the format never chose the right teams to play for the title, everyone this year agrees that Florida State and Auburn are the top two teams in college football.
Florida St. has been on a tear all season and seems unstoppable entering tonight’s game. With freshman Heisman winner Jameis Winston at quarterback, they dismantled the four ranked teams they played by a combined score of 200-35. Every one of the Seminoles wins except for one was by a margin of at least 27 points, and their average final score was an amazing 53-10.7.
It’s amazing that Florida State hasn’t won a title since 1999 when they dumped Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl. Now they seem destined to complete their perfect season against a team that also seems to have destiny on its side in the Auburn Tigers. Watch Florida State vs Auburn BCS Championship free streaming live online on ESPN tonight to see if Florida State can complete the perfect season.
Auburn (12-1) needed two miraculous plays to reach the BCS Championship that several other teams were gunning for. Facing Georgia in November, Ricardo Louis caught a deflected pass on fourth and 18 with under 30 seconds left on the clock for the game-winning 73-yard touchdown pass. Then there was the Chris Davis 100-yard missed field goal return to knock Alabama right out of the championship.
While Auburn will have its hands full trying to stop Florida State’s high scoring offense, FSU faces an offense in Auburn’s that scores over 40 point per game and averages over 500 yards of offense per game. Quarterback Nick Marshall has been excellent over the past four games wtih a passer rating of 163.5 and 503 rushing yards including six touchdowns. He faces a defense that had 25 interceptions and 33 sacks over the season, amongst the best in the entire nation.

Florida State is the top seed and it’s hard to imagine even Auburn beating them when we watch the 2014 BCS Championship tonight streaming live or on TV, or listening to the game live on ESPN Radio. The odds and spread are over a touchdown in FSU’s favor, though I think the final score will be a lot closer than the blowout all the expert picks are calling for.
