The Boston Red Sox have played their way to two opportunities at Fenway Park to eliminate the Detroit Tigers and advance to the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. As we preview here, they’ll have to go through Detroit’s best pitchers in the 2013 MLB ALCS baseball playoffs Game 6 tonight on Fox (not TBS) at a start time of 8:07pm EST to move on. You can watch ALCS Game 6 online free live streaming on Fox between the Tigers and Red Sox by following the links provided below.
In order to move on after tonight’s game, the Red Sox will need to defeat the probably AL Cy Young winner in Max Scherzer, the Game 2 starter who was nearly unhittable and ended up with a no-decision after David Ortiz’s Grand Slam against the Tigers bullpen in the eighth inning. Scherzer’s no-hitter was intact into the sixth when he gave up a couple hits and a run before being pulled. When he was yanked, Scherzer had already amassed 13 strikeouts of Red Sox hitters.
Scherzer has struck out 25 batters over his past two starts, plus another pair of strikeouts during his brief relief appearance in the ALDS. Manager Jim Leyland has had him on a short leash thus far in the playoffs, but after the Detroit bullpen collapse in Game 2, Leyland may stick with Scherzer a bit longer tonight considering their season is on the line.
Boston will counter Scherzer with Clay Buchholz, the same starting pitcher that the Tigers beat up on in Game 2 when Scherzer has his no-hitter through five. In that game, Buchholz coughed up five runs over 5 2/3s innings, all but one coming after the fifth inning started. Buchholz was hanging around with Scherzer until he lost his stuff in the sixth and promptly let the lead balloon to five runs.
The Red Sox have a 3-2 series advantage after winning a tight Game 5 by a score of 4-3. Mike Napoli’s home run to get the scoring going in that game turned out to be the difference as the Red Sox finally got to Anibal Sanchez after failing to tally a single hit off the Tigers’ starting pitcher in Game 3.
When we watch ALCS Game 6 online free live streaming on Fox tonight, the Tigers will continue to have youngster Jose Iglesias starting at shortshop. Catcher Alex Avila will be game-time decision after he collided with David Ross at home plate in Game 5 and ended up with a strained knee. If Avila sits, Scherzer won’t have his usual catcher to work with and that could impact his pitching performance.
Boston will be making a roster change tonight as well with rookie prospect Xander Bogaerts getting the nod at third base. Will Middlebrooks has struggled in the playoffs with a .174 batting average, so manager John Farrell decided to finally make the change.
If Boston loses tonight, they’ll have to face Justin Verlander in Game 7. That’s otherwise known as jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Saturday night’s ALCS Game 6 baseball game is televised exclusively on Fox with an 8:00pm EST / 5:00pm PST start time from Fenway Park in Boston, with the first pitched scheduled to be tossed at 8:07pm. There is no Fox MLB online free live streaming option to watch to the game on an iPad or mobile device, and it is blacked out to stream online at mlb.tv.
If you would like to watch ALCS Game 6 online free streaming on Fox, you must choose to subscribe to MLB’s postseason package that is available at a price of $24.99 right here. MLB playoffs live streaming online is only available to individuals that do not live in the United States or Canada.
The starting pitching advantage belongs to the Detroit Tigers, but the psychology of being on the brink of advancing and playing at home favors the Boston Red Sox. I predict we will watch ALCS Game 6 online free live streaming of the Tigers forcing a Game 7 with a win tonight.
