Ouch, this is really starting to hurt. Once again, the members bested the house in our little competition to the tune of 11 correct picks to 8. This week, the House posted one of the lowest pick sets out of all the entries. After twelve weeks of pretty shitty football, the score is 7 to 3 in favor of the members, with two pushes. Everybody’s favorite sim, NFL Madden 08 on the Xbox 360, came in with a 9-7 record.
After 12 weeks of the 2007 regular season, the numbers are:
* | TheManRoom | Madden Sim | Members |
Week 12: | 8-8 | 9-7 | 11-5 |
2007 Overall: | 102-74 | 69-87 | 112-64 |
The Challenge
Five games laid in disagreement this week, and four of them fell in the opposite direction in which the House predicted. Some of them were still good picks though… both the Redskins/Tampa and Seahawks/Rams games ended with the eventual loser at the goal line, ready to go ahead in the final seconds of the contest while the QB at the helm made a bonehead play. It was an interception thrown by Jason Campbell and a stupid fumble by perennial jackass Gus Frerotte that ended the contest for their teams with a ton of momentum behind them. Oh well, the House is going to keep picking these long shots in order to gain back that valuable ground.
The majority of pick sets submitted this week were 10 correct picks and above. Good job guys.
WAPATO SAINTS posted an amazing 14 out of 16 correct picks in week 12, and is our sole winner. He has won The Number 23 on DVD, courtesy of New Line Home Entertainment.
The League
There was almost a big story in week 12 as the New England Patriots* almost fell to the Philadelphia Eagles. See, they are human… and clearly not the “best team of all time” as some jackasses are coining them. That defense is a shadow of what it used to be. They still might close out the regular season with a perfect record, but better watch out if they face a competent offense in the playoffs.
The biggest story of the week WAS an “all-time” event… the Steelers/Dolphins contest was the Shittiest Monday Night Football game of all time. Congratulations to both teams for accomplishing this feat. I do feel a bit sorry for the Dolphins though, who can’t even win a contest in which they only give up 3 points.
On a final note, even though it didn’t happen in week 12, the TMR staff offers its condolences to the family and friends of Sean Taylor as well as the Washington Redskins nation. The NFL lost a great player today.
Fantasy Land
If its not Tom Brady*, its Drew Brees. Mr. Brees stood atop the QB pack this week as Frank Gore and Chad Johnson lead their respective fields as well. Eli Manning was the MVP of his game, for the Vikings, by throwing 3 TDs to them.
The top fantasy performances in week 12 were:
Quarterback:
Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints
In 31-6 win over the Carolina Panthers
Running Back:
Frank Gore – San Francisco 49ers
In 37-31 win over the Arizona Cardinals
Receivers:
Chad Johnson – Cincinnati Bengals
In 35-6 win over the Tennessee Titans
Defense:
Patrick Kerney – Seattle Seahawks
In 24-19 win over the St. Louis Rams
Clunker of the week:
Eli Manning – New York Giants
In 41-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings
