The undefeated Philadelphia Eagles square off against equally loss-less Arizona Cardinals in the desert this afternoon. It’s a clash of similar records and a battle to remain undefeated between two very different teams that will be televised on Fox.
No one thought the Cardinals would be riding a perfect record into this game, especially after having to visit New England and battle Tom Brady in week two. Yet some how, some way the Cardinals were able to ride an impressive defensive effort and do just enough on offense to pull off arguably this season’s biggest upset thus far.
Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb, still starting with John Skelton remaining out of action with an ankle sprain, will likely need to play the game of his life to pull out a week three victory. He will be up against the high flying and high turnover Eagles who pulled off their own version of an improbable win against the Ravens last week and come into Phoenix hungry to attack their former quarterback of the future.
On paper the Eagles are a much more proficient offensive team with Michael Vick at the helm than the Cardinals with Kolb. The same was said about Brady versus Kolb last weekend. Can Kolb do just enough to ride the adrenaline of facing the team that traded him and pull off another upset victory? The more important question is can the Cardinals defense shine again and shut down another high powered offense? I think Vick’s attack is going to prove a little too much to handle for the Cardinals and the Eagles sneak out of Phoenix with a close win.
