Tonight’s NFL Monday Night Football game on ESPN between division rivals Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers pits two teams coming off of disappointing losses against one another. Manning’s offensive stats against the Patriots were solid last week. However, even one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time will struggle to win when his team coughs up multiple turnovers. The Broncos handed the Patriots the ball three times including a crucial late fumble by Manning. Ball security will be one of their top priorities tonight.
History isn’t on Manning’s side when facing the Chargers, especially on the road. He has dropped five of the last six games against them as a member of the Colts. A new team, fresh start and primetime stage could be just what’s needed for Manning to turn his history against the Chargers around.
Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers was hot in a loss last week as well. He threw for 354 yards and a pair of touchdowns despite his team losing by a touchdown. Though the Chargers defense coughed up the game, Rivers has to feel confident about how well he and his offense are playing right now.
If the Broncos can win their record will improve to 3-3 and put them tied with the Chargers at 3-3 atop the struggling AFC West. However, should San Diego win, the Broncos will fall two games behind them and have some work to do in order to catch up.
