A familiar face got hot on day one of the 2013 BMW Championship golf tournament and third round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs to take a one-stroke lead and build momentum heading into Friday’s day two. Brandt Snedeker can’t feel too comfortable about his lead though with Tiger Woods lurking only three shots back. The first Friday tee times start at 11:20am EST, and you will find free live online streaming instructions, the live leaderboard and TV schedule below.
Snedeker won last year’s FedEx Cup and proved on Thursday that he has another run and potential title in him. With the strong 63 on Thursday, Snedeker is now projected to move into the top five and likely into the top position overall by the end of the tournament. He has already moved up into ninth place in overall FedEx Cup points.
It’s important for Snedeker to place in the top five by the end of the BMW Championship as any top five player in FedEx Cup points can automatically win the FedEx Cup by winning the fourth and final tournament, the Tour Championship. That’s precisely how Snedeker won the FedEx Cup last year and he’s remarkably constructing a similar plan this year in hopes of repeating as champion.
Who might be joining Snedeker in the top five? Currently Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson – the leader coming into Thursday’s play – and Steve Stricker are in a prime position. Matt Kuchar and Graham DeLaat had been in the top five, but their subpar performances on Thursday caused them to slide.
Last year’s BMW Championship champ Rory McIlroy shot a miserable 78 to push him all the way down to 54th in the points race. If he can’t climb into the top 30 by Sunday, which is looking unlikely barring a miracle, then McIlroy will not continue on to the Tour Championship.
Round 2 of the 2013 BMW Championship will feature the same pairings and tee times as round 1. That means Brant Snedeker will be teeing off at 12:48pm EST with Steve Stricker and Justin Rose. Stenson, Woods and Adam Scott are in the following group teeing off at 12:59pm EST.
The TV schedule for Friday’s second round of the of BMW Championship golf tournament is identical to round 1 on Thursday with coverage getting underway at 3pm EST / 12pm PST on Golf Channel in high definition (HD), and it will run straight through to 6pm EST / 3pm PST. NBC will begin airing its coverage on Saturday. BMW Championship free live online streaming to watch can be found here at the official PGA Tour website.
