A new trend is emerging in Blu-ray Disc that should continue to grow in popularity as long as studios and retailers support it.
Pre-order sales of Blu-ray film bundles that include the original film and one or two sequels with a reduced price currently stand at number two and three on Amazon’s Blu-ray bestseller list, besting a number of high profile titles.
Sitting at number two is the National Treasure 1 & 2 bundle, conceived by Amazon with an inviting $39.99 price. This packaging of the standalone versions of National Treasure and National Treasure: Book of Secrets has been hot since it first appeared and, so far, has managed to stay on the site for over a week.
The three spot is occupied by Alien vs Predator and Aliens vs Predator: Requiem, a combo package Fox is delivering. This set is price a bit higher at $48.95, or 30% off the list price.
Putting together high-def bundles is nothing new to Amazon. During the heyday of HD DVD, an Amazon-exclusive Bourne Trilogy bundle was extremely popular and always could be found on the bestseller list.
